The realization of the right to housing through the granting of property titles

The concept of security of tenure is the cornerstone of the human right to adequate housing. The need to provide households with land titles as a means to guarantee the effective exercise and enjoyment of security in the context of urban slums, characterized by the occupation of land belonging to third parties, whether they are public or private, has been put forward in numerous occasions. But how favorable are these policies? This article aims to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of land titling policies. Likewise, it will attempt to establish the extent to which these policies can be considered commendable and the only means possible to achieving the expected results.
