The Importance of Being Heard in Public Hearings on Advisory Opinions Submitted to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights
Abstract
In this commentary, the author analyzes the advisory function of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, providing examples of the importance that this function has had in the domestic sphere of some countries in the region, and making a comparison from the formal and practical point of view on the difference between the public hearings carried out on contentious cases and advisory opinions. He also shares his experience participating in public hearings in both types of proceedings.
