Abstract

The situation of insecurity and violence existing in Mexico increased after the war declaration done by the federal government against organized crime. This has sparked a series of violations of human rights in general. An alarming situation exists with respect to children, especia- lly from two areas: on the one hand, children losing fundamental rights, such as life, in the middle of this war; on the other hand, orphan children due to this violent situation are politically and socially abandoned. This scenario counteracts various international pronouncements with respect to safeguarding the rights of children.
