Do terroir às indicações geográficas em Mendoza: valorização diferencial do vinho argentino

Resumo

Mendoza tem sido historicamente uma província relevante para a indústria vinícola argentina. Nos últimos anos, a província tornou-se palco de pesquisas cujo objetivo é demonstrar a diversidade de terroirs existentes no seu território e, à vista disso, a produção de vinhos com perfil fenólico e tipicidade sensorial heterogênea, mesmo produzidos a partir da mesma casta. Esses estudos foram conduzidos em maior parte por meio de parcerias público-privadas.

A legislação argentina sobre a designação e apresentação dos vinhos, adotada após a implementação interna do Acordo sobre Aspectos dos Direitos de Propriedade Intelectual Relacionados ao Comércio, prevê a possibilidade de reconhecimento e proteção das Indicações Geográficas com base na singularidade do terruño (terroir).

Neste cenário, a tendência incremental de estudos para identificação e análise de terroirs na província não só proporciona um importante património científico para a indústria vitivinícola, mas também apresenta perspectivas favoráveis ​​a nível comercial para os produtores, e socioeconómico para as áreas geográficas envolvidas.

A escolha de Mendoza como sede do último Congresso Internacional do Terroir, o primeiro do seu tipo realizado na América Latina; somadas às excelentes classificações atribuídas por publicações reconhecidas aos vinhos que reivindicam os diferentes terroirs da província, são os frutos mais tangíveis deste interesse crescente por este elemento.
