Abstract

This article outlines some thoughts on the use of the United Nations 2030 Agenda as a tool for the protection of human rights. The declaration contains 17 universally applicable goals that will guide the States’ efforts to achieve a sustainable world by the year 2030. Taking into account goal no. 16 –related to improvement of democratic institutions– as a starting point, the paper will analyze the goals’ axiological basis as a ground
for the protection of rights. In addition, the article will study the objectives of sustainable development in relation to the Inter-American system, as
well as their connection with the role performed by judges in the enforcement of fundamental rights.

    Abogada por la Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata, Argentina (Distinción graduada sobresaliente). Actualmente se desempeña en la Cámara de Apelaciones en lo Civil y Comercial de Mar del Plata, Poder Judicial de la Provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina. Ayudante Graduada en la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata en las asignaturas Teoría General del Derecho y Teoría Constitucional. Auxiliar de investigación en el Grupo de Investigación “Artículo 19”, Departamento de Ciencias Políticas y Sociales, Facultad de Derecho, Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata.
