Thoughts on the Legal Problems related to the Execution of the Judgment of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in the Gelman case against Uruguay

This paper analyses the difficulties for the enforcement of the Inter American Court of Human Right ́s judgment in the case Gelman vs Uruguay, to the extent that the latter introduces concepts concerning the amnesty acts that are not compatible with the Uruguayan legal framework. The paper considers then the judgment, the Uruguayan constitutional difficulties and the possible options to give a legally sustainable solution to this controversial issue.
