Issues to be considered for effective access to international human rights protection bodies

The International Human Rights Law offers different instan ces to claim for the violation of fundamental rights caused by the action or omission of the States. Each of these instances –both universal and re gional– has its own characteristics, advantages and disadvantages that the petitioner should take into consideration when choosing the best way to file the international claim. This article analyzes these different questions and also tries to contribute with useful tools and guidelines for those per sons, professionals and non–governmental organizations that claim before international human rights bodies.
