Resumen

En este artículo se analiza la noción jurídica de “plataforma continental”, incluida su extensión más allá de las 200 millas marinas. Asimismo, se examina el rol de la Comisión de Límites de la Plataforma Continental (CLPC) en cuanto órgano creado por la Convención de las Naciones Unidas sobre el Derecho del Mar (CONVEMAR) como una instancia de intermediación entre, de un lado, las pretensiones de los Estados ribereños y, del otro, los intereses de la comunidad internacional en su conjunto sobre la plataforma continental más allá de las 200 millas marinas. Además, se estudia el procedimiento contemplado en el artículo 76 de la CONVEMAR para el establecimiento del borde exterior del margen continental de los Estados ribereños. Finalmente, se expone el procedimiento seguido por la Argentina para obtener una recomendación favorable de la CLPC a su presentación y, posteriormente, establecer el límite exterior de la plataforma continental argentina.

Ada Inés Sánchez Echevarría, Universidad Católica Argentina

Abogada (Universidad Católica Argentina) con doctorado en Ciencias Jurídicas (Universidad Católica Argentina, tesis en desarrollo) y maestría en Relaciones Internacionales (Universidad de Buenos Aires, tesis en desarrollo). Ha sido docente en el curso de posgrado “Temas y debates actuales del derecho internacional público” (Universidad Católica Argentina) y profesora adscripta de Derecho Internacional Público (Universidad Católica Argentina). Asimismo, se ha formado en la Universidad de Leiden, en la Academia de Derecho Internacional de La Haya y en la Universidad de Genève, entre otras. Es autora de diversas publicaciones de su especialidad.
